Day 1: June 12, 2012: Depart North America Depart North America for London, England. [IFM]
Day 2: June, 13, 2012: Arrive London, England Arrival into London and transfer to your hotel in London for a two-night stay. Balance of day is free. Hotel: Copthorne Tara Hotel, London
Day 3: June 14, 2012: London, England Free day on own for sightseeing or shopping in this capital city. In the evening, you may choose a West End Theatre Show, or just relax in one of the many local restaurants.. .Dinner on own. [B] Hotel: Copthorne Tara Hotel, London
Day 4: June 15, 2012: London~Cambridge, England Load Luggage and travel into Bedfordshire for a visit to Woburn Abbey and Deer Park, set in a beautiful 3000 acre park and home to The Dukes of Bedford. Guided tour of the house followed by lunch in the restaurant (on own). This afternoon meet with a deer ranger in the coach park and enjoy a guided tour (on coach) of this wonderful estate. Day 5: June 16, 2012: Cambridge ~ Lincoln, England Travel into central Cambridge for a walking tour of this beautiful, historic city. Your tour includes entry into Kings College. Brief free time for lunch and shopping. You will be joined by a 'hop on guide' who will provide some local agricultural knowledge for today and tomorrow). Day 6: June 17, 2012: Lincoln – York, England Morning visit to a crop farm that has also diversified into several different enterprises including a caravan store, potato refridgeration, intensive duck operation and stone quarry. Home-made lunch on site from your welcoming hosts. Transfer to the beautiful City of York. Check in to your hotel and then enjoy free time to explore the higgledy piggledy streets and tiny traditional shops of the shambles or walk the York Wall. Day 7: June18, 2012: Yorkshire – Lake District, England Depart for a scenic journey north into Lake District with its beautiful hills and many lakes, which gave the poet Wordsworth, much of his inspiration. Visit a farm & farm-shop enterprise that produces over 115 products for local shops and supermarkets. Mixed farm comprising beef, sheep, poultry and market produce. Your farming guide Fiona will join you here and stay with you until you reach Edinburgh to provide some local farming knowledge. Day 8: June 19, 2012: Lake District, England Option of free time around Bowness or some sightseeing and visits on the coach. Possibly visit Hill Top, Beatrix Potters home? Day 9: June 20, 2012: Lake District, England – Edinburgh, Scotland Travel northwards for a stop at a large livestock auction mart. Continue through the Scottish Borders for a farm visit (and lunch) TBA. Continue to Scotland's historic capital city Edinburgh, famous for the fortress of Edinburgh Castle, built to last on the rocky outcrop overlooking the main shopping area of Princes Street. Day 10: June 21, 2012: Edinburgh, Scotland After breakfast, transfer for a full day at the Highland Show. Scottish Agriculture at its finest, with over 4000 cattle, sheep, horses, goats, deer and poultry on display, along with a host of the latest agricultural machinery, equipment and ideas. The food marquee is excellent and shows how well the Scots present and market their local produce. Day 11: June 22, 2012: Edinburgh, Scotland Free day – for personal sightseeing, maybe visit Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, or Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens or simply shop along the famous Princes Street. Free evening for own dinner. [B] Hotel: King James Thistle Hotel, Edinburgh
Day 12: June 23, 2012: Edinburgh – Oban, Scotland ( Early start & long day! ) After breakfast, drive north into Perthshire. Farm visit to Ian & Adrian Ivory, award winning beef farmers who supply ASDA. Afternoon visit to Famous Grouse Distillery, tour the distillery, sample a wee dram and participate in their interactive show. Day 13: June 24, 2012: Oban, Scotland After breakfast, check in early for ferry across from Oban to Mull. Drive to Iona for foot passenger ferry across to visit the famous Abbey. Afterwards, drive to Gruline for a visit to a family beef and sheep farm before returning to Craignure. Check in for return ferry back to Oban for the night. Day 14: June 25, 2012: Oban, Scotland - Dublin, Ireland Continue your journey to Stranraer for the ferry crossing to Belfast. Upon arrival in Ireland, travel south from Belfast to your Dublin Hotel, which is just a few steps away from the pubs, bars and restaurants of the City Centre. Day 15: June 26, 2012: Dublin, Ireland This morning take an escorted tour of Dublin including Trinity College, where many prominent people were educated, including Sir George Bernard Shaw. Day 17: June 28, 2012: Galway ~ Killarney, Ireland This morning visit the Connemara Pony Stud then drive through the beautiful area of Burren and visit the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland's most popular attractions. Travel south through the lovely Irish scenery followed by a tour of the cattle and sport horse operation. Travel via Limerick and Adare to the town of Killarney for a two night stay. Day 19: June 30, 2012: Killarney ~ Cork, Ireland Depart for the Cork region. Visit a fine Irish dairy enterprise with a typically eloquent farmer. Then visit Blarney Castle where, if you kiss the "Blarney Stone", you will never be stuck for words! A lunch opportunity here, then time in the nearby store where a wonderful array of crystal, linen, knitwear and other Irish products await you. Later visit a beef farm near Blarney. Day 20: July 01, 2012: Cork, Ireland Visit the Cobh Heritage centre. From 1848 - 1950 over 6 million adults and children emigrated from Ireland - over 2.5 m departed from Cobh - many for New Zealand. Visit the Old Midleton Distillery where you will gain a tasty and aromatic insight into the making of Irish Whiskey. Day 21: July 02, 2012: Cork, Ireland ~ Holyhead ~ Chester, Wales After breakfast, depart for Dublin. En route visit an Aberdeen Angus stud breeder then on to the port for return ferry crossing to Holyhead in Wales. After arrival, transfer to Chester and check in to your hotel. Day 22: July 03, 2012: Abergavenny, Wales Breakfast. Morning visit to Twemlows Horse Stud. Set in beautiful Shropshire countryside, Twemlows Hall Stud Farm offers the modern breeder a comprehensive service. The stud is a family business run by Richard and Edward Matson. It is one of the UK's leading Artificial Insemination and Embryo transfer centres with an annual throughput in excess of 400 mares, using over 130 different stallions each year. Transfer into central Wales. Visit to a farm & Falconry Centre. Lunch on arrival followed by a farm tour and 'meet the birds'. They also breed quality pedigree Texel sheep and beef cattle. Day 23: July 04, 2012: Abergavenny, Wales Breakfast in hotel. Meet with a local farmer Mick Wright will board the coach and take you to his own Lleyn sheep farm to view his enterprise. Return to Nantyffin for a buffet lunch where your afternoon hosts will join you. Afternoon visit to a traditional beef and sheep farm and it's neighbouring family farm which produces apple juice. Day 24: July 05, 2012: Stratford upon Avon, England Free morning to explore before heading for Tetbury. (To include some typical Cotswold villages). Possible visit to Highgrove Gardens (to be confirmed) Afternoon visit to Duchy Home Farm. This is the beloved property of HRH Prince Charles which is run under organic regime. Here you will be met by the farm manager and given a talk and tour of the farm. Continue to Stratford and check into Hotel. This evening walk down to the River and board a Bancroft Cruisers boat and enjoy a cruise and bbq with some locally sourced produce whilst cruising some of the most delightful stretches of water in the Heart of England's countryside. Day 25: July 06, 2012: Stratford on Avon, England Visit to Anne Hathaway's Cottage, where young William used to court his heart throb Anne! Day 26: July 07, 2012: Stratford on Avon - Bath, England Visit to Blenheim Palace, the seat of the Duke of Marlborough. Transfer to the wonderful, historic city of Bath. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and give you a 2 hour walking tour of Bath followed by entrance to the Baths. Day 27: July 08, 2012: Oxford – London, England Depart for a scenic drive through Wiltshire with a photo op of Stonehenge en route. Day 28: July 09, 2012: End of Tour Breakfast at leisure in hotel. Free time for shopping and packing. Transfer to airport for flight home. [B/IFM]
