DAY 2 – Santiago Arrival and transfer to your hotel. Day at your leisure to explore this classic capital where ancient and modern stand side by side.
DAY 3 – Santiago City tour of Santiago featuring the Palacio De La Moneda, the nerve center of the Chilean government and a stunning example of neo-classical architecture, the Plaza de Armas (main square), and the bustling Mercado Central (market). Ascend to the top of the city for a dramatic panoramic view from the beautifully landscaped Cerro Santa Lucia. The rest of the day at your leisure to explore Santiago’s many fine museums or shops. DAY 4 – Santiago – Punta Arenas –Puerto Natales, Patagonia Fly to Punta Arenas and coach to Puerto Natales; the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park in Chile’s Northern Patagonia. Spend the night at a lovely lakeside hotel in Puerto Natales where dinner is on your own.(B)
DAY 5 – Puerto Natales After breakfast, depart for a full-day excursion of sailing through the Last Hope Sound toward the Serrano and Balmaceda Glaciers. A boxed lunch will be provided. Return to your hotel in Puerto Natales for overnight. (B)
DAY 6 – Torres del Paine, Patagonia A full day of exploring the Torres del Paine National Park. Declared a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO in 1978, the park is internationally renowned as one of the most beautiful, unspoiled locations on the planet. Its spectacular mountain range, lakes, flora and fauna make this a memorable destination. Highlights include the Salto Grande (big waterfall) near Lakes Nordenskjold and Pehoe, and the impressive granite peaks of the Cuernos (horns) del Paine. (B/L)
DAY 7 – Puerto Natales – Punta Arenas– Santiago A half-day excursion on our Patagonian adventure before returning to Punta Arenas. (B/L)
DAY 8 – Santiago – San Pedro de Atacama Day begins with a flight to the northern Chilean city of Calama via Santiago. From Calama drive a short distance to the charming adobe desert village of San Pedro de Atacama. Following lunch, embark on an afternoon excursion of the desert including the Gustavo Archeological Museum and the mystical Valley of the Moon. (B/L/D)
DAY 9 – Atacama Desert A full day exploration of the Atacama—the driest place on earth—to the delightful village of Toconao with its unique white stone constructions and fruit orchards. We continue to the Salar de Atacama –the second largest salt flats in the world and is a favorite habitat for diverse waterfowl. Spectacular landscapes and natural phenomena abound in this mysterious lunar-like area. Visit the archeological ruins of Ayllus and Tulor. (B/L/D)
DAY 10 – Atacama Desert A full day exploration in the Atacama. Visit the El Tatio Geysers which are the planet’s highest and also a stunning sunrise spectacle. Journey to the 17th-century colonial villages of Chiu-Chiu and Caspana where ancient traditions and lifestyles remain active. Afternoon ends with a visit to the 12th-century fortress town of Lasana. DAY 11 – Atacama - Santiago Return to Santiago, flying from Calama. (B)
DAY 12 – Santiago – Departure Day at leisure to further explore the city and last-minute shopping. Evening flight to Toronto*. (B)
