Day 1 - June 22, 2012: Depart North America

Day 2 - June 23, 2012: Bucharest, Romania
Welcome to Bucharest. Transfer to city center hotel for an overnight stay. [IFM]
Day 3 - June 24, 2012: Bucharest, Romania - Avalon "Imagery" River Cruise
Tour the impressive Parliament Building, the second-largest building in the world after the Pentagon. This afternoon drive through the countryside to Olenita along the Danube River and the waiting river boat where the crew of the vessel welcomes you aboard. [B/D]
Day 4 - June 25, 2012: Olentia, Romania - Silistra, Bulgaria
A full day will be spent traveling through the agricultural land of Bulgaria to the port city of Varna, situated on the Black Sea. Visit the National Archaeological Museum and have lunch at a sea-side restaurant before returning to the ship docked on the Danube River. [B/L/D]
Day 5 - June 26, 2012: Svistov, Bulgaria
Today, a day excursion will travel through the rolling countryside, past quaint villages and productive farm lands to Veliko Tarnovo & Arbanassi. Veliko Tarnovo is the ancient Bulgarian capital situated on three hills surrounding the Yantra River. The city was a natural fortress clinging to the steep slopes. The oldest part of the city is the Royal Fortress palaces and the Patriarch's Church. In the historic village of Arbanassi, is the Ethnographical Museum and the Church of the Nativity with a fine outstanding collection of frescoes. Return to the ship docked back on the Danube River. Day 6 - June 27, 2012: Cruising Iron Gates
This is a day for cruising and relaxation. The most spectacular scenery today is the dramatic gorge of the “Iron Gates”, a narrow and formerly very dangerous passage dividing Europe’s Alps in the northwest from the Carpathians in the southeast and forming a natural border between Serbia and Romania. Day 7 - June 28, 2012: Belgrade, Serbia
Cruise into Belgrade. The capital of Serbia is situated at the confluence of the Danube and Sava Rivers. Local tours include the city’s principal landmark, Kalemegdan Fortress and St. Sava, the world’s largest Orthodox church as well as lively pedestrian areas with charming outdoor cafes. [B/L/D]
Day 8 - June 29, 2012: Novi Sad, Serbia
In Novi Sad one gets spectacular views of the Danube and surroundings area with a visit to Marshal Vauban’s unconquerable Petrovaradin Fortress. Return to the ship for a relaxing afternoon of cruising upriver. [B/L/D]
Day 9 - June 30, 2012: Pecs-Kalocsa, Hungary
Pecs is Hungary’s fifth largest city while Kalocsa was founded in 1009 and is best known for paprika and folklore art. Learn how paprika has been grown and prepared through the ages. Enjoy an organ concert in the Kalocsa Cathedral before returning once more to the ship. [B/L/D]
Day 10 - July 01, 2012: Budapest, Hungary
Disembark from the ship this morning to tour Budapest. Budapest spans the banks of the Danube River and is Eastern Europe’s liveliest and most cosmopolitan metropolis. Seven bridges connect ancient Buda on the right bank with Pest on the left. The massive hilltop castle complex with “Fisherman’s Bastion” and the “Matthias Church” overlooking the fabulous Parliament Buildings, are among the many sights visited today. The hotel, situated on the banks of the Danube, is home for a 2-night stay. [B]
Day 11 - July 02, 2012: Budapest, Hungary
A special tour this morning will include the farming area surrounding Budapest before returning to the city for the night and a unique “Hungarian Farewell Dinner” hosted by “Select Holidays”. [B/D]
Day 12- July 03, 2012: End of Tour
A morning transfer to the airport for the flight back to North America. [B/IFM]
