This small group departure is HOSTED by Garth Layden of Select Holidays.  As you journey along the lifeline of Egyptian civilization, experiencing incredible sights that include ancient temples, tombs, and local villages.  Cruise both the fertile Nile River Delta and Lake Nasser.  No visit would be complete without viewing the great pyramids and Sphinx at Giza.  Travel onto the Kingdom of Jordan.  Visit the ancient hidden city of Petra, a journey through a winding passageway between rock walls.  Step back 2000 years in time with visits to Jerash, Mount Nebo, which looks down on Moses' "Promised Land" plus visit the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth.

Day 1: Depart North America     [IFM]
Depart North America on an overnight flight to Egypt.

Day 2: Luxor, Egypt[IFM]
Arrival in Cairo andconnect with a flight to the city of Luxor where you are met and transferred to a hotel situated along the NilE River, for a 2-night stay.

Day 3: Luxor     [B/L/D]
A relaxing morning at the hotel before visiting the Luxor Temple, a large Ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the Nile River.  It was constructed in approximately 1400 BC.  This afternoon, relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset from the hotel terrace.

Day 4: Luxor[B/L/D]
This morning check out of hotel and visit the amazing Karnack Temple, the Vatican of the Pharaonic Era.  Here everything is large with monumental gates and enormous halls and pillars with beautiful carvings.  You then step aboard a 4*ship Nile River boat for a 4-night stay.  Lunch onboard and time to get to know the ship before visiting Karnak Temple once more, to see it     illuminated after dark.   Overnight onboard the Nile River boat. 

Day 5: Luxor – Nile River Cruise        [B/L/D]
Depart for the western bank of the Nile River to visit the Valleys of the Dead.  On your way, make a short stop the Colossus of Memnon then visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.  In the Valley of Kings you visit two tombs, including the Tomb of Tutankhamen. (King Tut).  Later, you start cruising on the Nile river towards the Esna locks,  enjoying panoramic views from the sundeck.  Not much has changed along the Nile since the time of the pharaohs.  The farmers and families are working hard in the fields. The green fields are a sharp contrast to the surrounding dry browN desert. The ship has to wait for its turn in the lock of Esna and will pass through during the late afternoon and continue sailing to Edfu.

Day 6: Cruising Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan     [B/L/D]
Visit the Edfu Temple, built in 200 BC and perfectly preserved.  Continue to sail to Kom Ombo where there is a short walk from the ship to visit this double temple before continue sailing towards Aswan in the afternoon.  Once more enjoy afternoon tea as you view life along the   river.

Day 7: Aswan     [B/L/D]
Your day starts with a sailing trip around the archipelago of Aswan in a felucca, a small classic sailing boat.  Walk around the Botanical Garden among the 100 year old trees of all kinds.  After lunch you will visit the Philae Temple situated on a small island between the old Aswan Dam and the High Dam as well as a visit to the unfinished obelisk in the granite quarry. You are back to the ship in the late afternoon for your last night onboard.

Day 8:  Aswan – Lake Nasser Cruise     [B/L/D]
You check out of your Nile River cruise ship after breakfast and visit the High Dam. This ‘wonder of the new world’ has changed life in the Nile valley. You then board your Lake Nasser cruise ship in the harbor on the back side of the High Dam, andsettle into your cabin for a 3-night stay. Lunch served on board. In the afternoon, visit a Nubian temple.  You   overnight anchored in the Aswan Harbour. 
NOTE: Sailing on Lake Nasser may operate in the opposite direction and start in Abu Simbel.

Day 9:  Aswan – Wadi Seboua – Amada           [B/L/D]
You set sail and celebrate crossing over the Tropicof Cancer.  In the afternoon you arrive at the Wadi El Seboua Temple, called the “Lion Temple” because of all the sphinxes that are scattered around.  Also visit the Temples of Dakka and Meharakka. 

Day 10:  Lake Nasser   [B/L/D]
A morning visit to the Temples of Amada and Derr.  You sail past Kasr Ibrim, a citadel that you view from the sundeck of the ship, then continue cruising southwards towards the beautiful sight of the famous Abu Simbel Temples.  After lunch you visit these magnificent temples, built by Ramses II.  There is time to relax back on board in the afternoon before going back ashore this evening to enjoy the fantastic Sound & Light show at the temples.  Back onboard, enjoy a FarewelL Candlelight Dinner. 

Day 11: Abu Simbel – Giza   [B/L/D]
Breakfast onboard.   (For those who wish, there is the possibility of an optional sunrise visit to Abu Simbel.  The entrance ticket for this morning is not included).  You disembark the cruise ship then fly to Cairo and transfer to hotel in the pyramid area of Giza for a 2-night stay.  Arrive at hotel early afternoon and enjoy the hotel and pool area. 

Day 12: Giza   [B/D]
You begin your day with the most famous sight in Egypt including the Step Pyramid, the Pyramids at the Giza Plateau, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, as well as a visit to the mysterious Sphinx.  This afternoon visit the Institute of Papyrus before returning to the hotel for dinner and the night. 

Day 13:  Giza – Cairo         [B/L/D]
Departing from Giza, you visit the Egyptian Museum, an absolute must on any tour to Egypt.  A guide will take you to the galleries with the gold and treasures of Tutankhamon, before transferring to an airport hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 14: Cairo - Amman /Dead Sea    [B/L/D]
A morning transfer to the Cairo Airport for a flight into Amman, Jordan where you are met and taken to Madaba, best known for its Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land. Following lunch, travel to Mount Nebo overlooking the Promise Land in the time of Moses.  Check into hotel at the Dead Sea for an overnight stay .

Day 15: Dead Sea – Petra    [B/L/D]
Spend the morning enjoying the hotel and Dead Sea then depart for  the “Hidden City” of Petra and check into hotel for a          3-night stay.

Day 16: Petra    [B/L/D]
A full day visit to Petra.  You reach Petra through the awe inspiring "Siq", a winding 1km long fissure between overhanging cliffs that seem to meet more than 300 feet over head.  During the visit, you will see the beautifully carved rock monuments, such as The Treasury, famous from the film with Indiana Jones, the colored tombs, and theater.  Return to hotel in late afternoon.

Day 17: Petra - Wadi Rum - Petra    [B/L/D]
Today you drive to the Wadi Rum, a moon like landscape of ancient valleys and sandstone mountains rising out of the white and pink colored sands. Much of "Lawrence of Arabia" was filmed and is where Lawrence himself was based during the Arab revolt. Your visit is via a jeeP safari.  Lunch is at a Bedouin style camp. Before returning to Petra, you visit a fruits or        vegetables farm in the middle of the desert. Return to Petra for the night.

Day 18: Petra     [B/L/D]
A morning departure from Petra to the city of Amman where you will be taken on a city tour to visit and view some of the more interesting sites.  Check into a city hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 19: Petra –  Dead Sea     [B/L/D]
This morning you drive north of Amman to visit a dairy with approximately 3400 head of cows and delivering 35 tons of milk per day.  Following lunch, drive to Jerash for a tour of this ancient city. You will see the Arc of Triumph, Roman theater, plus other interesting sites before returning to Amman. You return to the hotel in Amman for dinner and to refresh yourselves before departing for the airport later this evening and an overnight flight back to North America.

Day 20: End of Tour     [IFM]
Arrive back to North America and home.
