DAY 01: March 03, 2018: [IFM]
Depart North America on an overnight flight into Lisbon, Portugal
DAY 02: March 04, 2018: LISBON, PORTUGAL [IFM/D]
Arrive into Lisbon, Portugal and transfer to hotel for a 4-night stay. Lisbon is the stunning capital city of Portugal, and is one of the most charismatic and vibrant cities of Western Europe. The city blends traditional heritage, with striking modernism and offers a rich and varied history, lively nightlife and is blessed with a glorious year-round climate. Enjoy a “Welcome Dinner” with a private Portuguese chef this evening.
DAY 03: March 05, 2018: LISBON – SINTRA-WINE REGION, PORTUGAL [B/L/D]
Following breakfast at the hotel, depart for a visit of Sintra, a UNESCO heritage village with a fairytale setting. The home of Portugal’s monarchs, this magnificent town has marvelous historic mansions, all set against the backdrop of lush hills. Tour of the village, enjoy a beachside luncheon at Cataplana’s Seafood Restaurant. This afternoon’s highlight will be the visit to Colares Wine Region, that lies within two miles of the Atlantic Ocean. It is famous as much for its sandy soils and un-grafted vines as the robust, tannic red wine it produces from the area's Ramisco grape. Visit the Carcavelos Wines Region before returning to Lisbon and dinner at Fado, (musical genre) Restaurant.
DAY 04: March 06, 2018: LISBON, PORTUGAL [B/L/D]
After breakfast, visit the market for a tour and hands-on cooking class. This market features fish and produce vendors with colorful locals daily lifestyle. Let the chef teach you how to cook and enjoy a Portuguese typical 3-course lunch with fish, meat and the famous Portuguese custard tarts as dessert. This afternoon tour and visit the city of Lisbon that will include old and historic Lisbon neighborhoods and viewpoints. Dinner this evening will be the traditional Portuguese tidbits to share on a terrace restaurant.
DAY 05: March 07, 2018: LISBON – SETUBAL WINE REGION, PORTUGAL [B/L/D]
Breakfast at the hotel then visit a handmade tile factory. This will be followed with a tour to a wine and cheese makers estate and also known for regional pastries. Lunch at a local restaurant then return to Lisbon for a free afternoon to explore on your own or just relax at the hotel. Dinner this evening in Lisbon will be on the south bank of the river.
Day 06: March 08, 2018: LISBON - COUNTRY REGION, PORTUGAL [B/L]
After breakfast, check out of hotel and drive into the fruits and vegetable growing region of Portugal. Visit to a Coop of fruit and vegetable growers with more than 89 shareholders and 150 employees, buys and sells fruit, potatoes and pre-pack agricultural produce still using a preservation method now in its 4th generation. Lunch at a fishermen’s village before visiting a family wine estate for old brandy and sparkling wine production and tasting. The estate also breeds horses and an option for a horseback ride. There will be a Cooking Class and Dinner at the countryside hotel this evening.
DAY 07: March 09, 2018: COUNTRY REGION - EVORA, PORTUGAL [B/L/D]
Enjoy a country style breakfast then visit the Cork oak tree forest and cork observatory. This is followed with a winery luncheon in the Alentejo region. In the afternoon, visit a black pig farm then travel to Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage City, with more than two thousand years of History and rated as one of the best Portuguese cities to live in. Check into hotel for an overnight stay and then enjoy the local cuisine at dinner.
DAY 08: March10, 2018: EVORA – BEJA, PORTUGAL [B/L/D]
Following breakfast, visit Évora and its surroundings including the Roman Temple, the Cathedral and Giraldo Square. Lunch once more at a local winery that produces a unique white wine using red grapes. This afternoon visit the Alqueva Dam , Europe’s largest water reserve and artificial lake that revolutionized 120,000 hectares of dryland into new irrigated land in Alentejo, becoming a unique opportunity in Europe for the development of agricultural and agro-industrial activities. Visit to a hydroponic fruit farm then check in at a Beja hotel for an overnight stay. Dinner will consist of typical regional cuisine.
DAY 09: March 11, 2018: BEJA,PORTUGAL - SEVILLE, SPAIN [B/L/D]
After breakfast at the hotel, visit to an olive oil mill to learn the making and processing of olive oils. Say farewell to Portugal and drive into Spain to arrive at the hotel in Seville for a 3-night stay. Dinner will be at the hotel.
Day 10: March 12, 2018: SEVILLE, SPAIN [B/L/D]
After breakfast, learn about the fascinating world of the preparation of the famed Iberian ham. You will see how traditional and natural practices are still used in the production of the finest quality Iberian Hams. Lunch will include a taste of local product, cured cheese, local home-made cakes and a selection of local wines. This afternoon enjoy a tour of Seville including admission to the Cathedral. Return to the hotel later this afternoon and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 11: March 13, 2018: SEVILLE-ROYAL SCHOOL OF EQUESTIAN ART, SPAIN [B/L/D]
Breakfast at the hotel then visit the Royal School of Equestrian Art. See the unique show…"How the Andalusian Horses Dance", an equestrian ballet accompanied by quintessential Spanish music and 18th century style costumes. Lunch at a local restaurant then visit a Sherry wine cellar and see the exciting world of the Sherry wines as well as enjoy the best native horse of Jerez de la Frontera and to complete the visit, what better than a walk along the best contemporary art in their Art Gallery, finishing the visit with a tasting of their wines. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 12: March 14, 2018: SEVILLE – CORDOBA, SPAIN [B/D]
Following breakfast , check out of the hotel and depart to visit a coop located near Seville producing corn, cotton, wheat, sunflower, citrus, stone fruit, potatoes. Drive to Cordoba and some sightseeing of the city including the Cathedral of Cordoba. Cordoba was founded by the Romans and due to its strategic importance as the highest navigable point of the Guadalquivir River, it became a port city of great importance, used for shipping Spanish olive oil, wine and wheat back to Ancient Rome. Lunch will be at your leisure wherever you choose before checking into the hotel and a free afternoon. Dinner is included at a local restaurant.
Day 13: March 15, 2018: CORDOBA - GRANADA, SPAIN [B/L/D]
After breakfast at the hotel visit an Olive grove and mill and finishing the visit with an olive oil tasting. Lunch at a local restaurant followed by some free time. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 14: March 16, 2018: GRANADA, SPAIN [B/L/D]
Breakfast at the hotel then drive towards Granada. Visit the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens before enjoying a Tapas lunch. The afternoon is at leisure. This evening enjoy dinner in a “Gipsy Cave” with Flamenco show.
Day 15: March 17, 2018: GRANADA - MALAGA COSTA DEL SOL, SPAIN [B/L/D]
Enjoy breakfast at hotel then head out for some sightseeing of Ronda city, famous worldwide for its dramatic escarpments and views. Ronda is also famous as the birthplace of modern bullfighting.
Day 16: March 18, 2018: MALAGA, SPAIN [B/L/D]
After breakfast, depart for Malaga for sightseeing and lunch. Free afternoon before a “Farewell Dinner” this evening.
Day 17: March 19, 2018: END OF TOUR [B/IFM]
Following breakfast the hotel, check out and transfer to the Malaga Airport and the flight back to North America.
