The World Conference and Tour Organising Committee has now settled the full itinerary and costings for the 2019 triennial event in Australia. The committee has worked hard to arrange an itinerary that includes a representation of the best of our cattle both dairy and beef as well as some of Australia’s unique tourist attractions.

Day 01: Sun 29 Sept 2019 - Arrive Melbourne
Arrive early morning flight to Melbourne. Transfer to Royal Melbourne Show to observe the judging of the Shorthorn cattle. You will be hosted today for lunch in the Showgrounds by the Victorian Branch of the Shorthorn Society.  Afternoon check in to your well-located accommodation for a 2-night stay. Dinner own arrangements. [L]

Day 02: Mon 30 Sept 2019 - MELBOURNE
Today you will travel to the Leongatha region, at the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges in south Gippsland, which is a renowned dairy area. You will visit two Shorthorn dairies – firstly Peter Price’s Leongatha Shorthorn. Malcolm Douglas’ Tuerong Dairy Shorthorn cattle will also be on display. Next you visit Owen & Claire Hutchinson, Berrys Creek Shorthorn. Lunch will be at nearby Moss Vale Park – home of heritage trees. Boutique cheese factory (which the dairies supply) will also be on display. While still in the area you will travel to nearby Phillip Island Nature Park to watch a parade of little penguins, as they make the journey from the ocean to their burrows on dusk. Return to Melbourne. Dinner on own. [B/L]

Day 03: Tue 01 Oct 2019 - MELBOURNE to GRIFFITH
This morning you depart Melbourne on your journey north into New South Wales, via the Murray River towns of Echuca and Moama. Today you will visit The Ham Family’s, Tataila Shorthorn Stud and the restored heritage shearing shed. Afternoon arrival into the town of Griffith – located in the productive Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area of the Riverina region. Check in to accommodation for a 1-night stay. [B/L/D]

Day 04: Wed 02 Oct 2019 - GRIFFITH to WAGGA WAGGA
This morning your first visit will be to JBS Australia’s Prime City Feedlot – a 35,000 head capacity, 6,200-hectare feedlot boasting state-of-the-art infrastructure and a farm with the capacity to supply all of the feedlot’s roughage requirements. This is where the JBS “Thousand Guineas” Shorthorn product is fed for distribution. The product will be tried, courtesy of JBS. You then travel on to visit The Spry Family’s, Sprys Shorthorn Stud at their “Ardlui” property, located near Wagga Wagga. Afternoon arrival into Wagga Wagga for registration to the Shorthorn World Congress Conference, which commences tomorrow. Check in to your accommodation for a 3-night stay. [B/L/D]

Day 05: Thu 03 Oct 2019 - WAGGA WAGGA
Shorthorn World Congress and that evening will be the Conference Dinner. [B/L/D]

Day 06: Fri 04 Octr 2019 - WAGGA WAGGA
Shorthorn World Congress. Dinner on own. [B/L]

Day 07: Sat 05 Oct 2019 - WAGGA WAGGA to DUBBO
This morning you continue your tour travelling north east to Parkes – a town made famous by the Parkes Radio Telescope “The Dish”. Today you will visit the Francis & Son’s, Gobothery Shorthorns, near Forbes. On to Dubbo for a 3- night stay.

Day 08: Sun 06 Oct 2019 - DUBBO
Today you will attend the Shorthorn Youth Expo – Heifer Show. This evening you will attend the Heifer Show Dinner. Accommodation in Dubbo again tonight. [B/L/D]

Day 09: Mon 07 Oct 2019 - DUBBO
Travel to Cumnock area to visit Lester and Sonya Job’s Moombi Shorthorn Stud. Next, you visit the nearby Royalla Shorthorns at Yeoval, owned by Neilson, Sue and Nicholas Job. This afternoon a visit to Howard & Margaret Williams’s, Marrington Shorthorn Stud. Dinner on own. [B/L]

Day 10: Tue 08 Oct 2019 - DUBBO - SYDNEY - END OF TOUR        
Shorthorn Program completed after breakfast in Dubbo. Depart Dubbo. Fly Dubbo to Sydney (domestic flight not included – could possibly be part of the International booking) and then connect on flights to home base. [b]
