Join Sarah McGee from Select Holidays on our hosted agriculture tour of Peru, Chile, Argentina & Brazil.  You will be awed by Machu Picchu as you scale this amazing site.  Enjoy your experience of the wineries in the area around Santiago and see how the grapes are cultivated, picked, and the wine is produced, which is one of Chile’s biggest agriculture exports.  As you cross over to Argentina you will enjoy the Spectacular Lake Cruise between Bariloche, Argentina and Puerto Montt, Chile.  You will visit the largest inland grain handling system, where farmers have their grain hauled to for export.  The pampas of Argentina produce vast amounts of soy beans, corn, and sunflower as well as lush pasture for the cattle farms in the area.  The amazing Iguacu Falls in Brazil will leave you breathless and the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro will amaze you with sights from the Olympics plus much more.  You will return home with the great memories of experiencing the farming in these countries as well as the deep culture.

Day 1: Jan 22, 2020:  Depart North America to fly to Lima, Peru
Upon arrival, clear customs, meet a local guide  and transfer to the hotel airport for a 2-night stay. [IFM]

Day 2: Jan 23, 2020:  Lima, Peru
Mid-morning start from the hotel for a city tour  of Lima, taking in historical and cultural sites. Lunch and dinner at a local restaurant. [B/L/D]

Day  3: Jan 24, 2020:  Lima – Cuzco – Sacred   Valley, Peru
Breakfast at the hotel then transfer to the airport for a flight to Cuzco.  Upon arrival into Cuzco, transfer to the Sacred Valley and hotel for an overnight stay. [B/L/D]

Day 4: Jan 25, 2020:  Sacred Valley – Macchu Picchu, Peru
Early breakfast at hotel then transfer to the train station for a panoramic train journey to Aguas Calientes.  Take a shuttle bus to Macchu Picchu for a guided tour of this sacred site of the ancient Inca civilization. The visit includes: the Solar Clock; the Watchtower; the Incas Palace; the Three Windows.  Return to Aguas Calientes by bus and check into the hotel for an overnight stay. [B/L/D]

Day 5: Jan 26, 2020:  Macchu Picchu – Cuzco,  Peru
The morning is at leisure or you may wish to return to Macchu Picchu on your own (entrance fee this morning not included.) This afternoon transfer to the train station for the return journey to the Sacred Valley and Cuzco. Dinner at a local restaurant. [B/L/D]

Day 6: Jan 27, 2020:  Cuzco - Lima, Peru
Breakfast at the hotel then take a city tour to visit: The Cathedral; Temple of the Sun and the nearby ruins; Sacsayhuaman Fortress. Mid-afternoon flight back to Lima.  Enjoy a dinner and folkloric show this evening. [B/D]

Day 7: Jan 28, 2020:  Lima, Peru -  Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil today.  Upon arrival, clear Customs then transfer to a beachfront hotel for an early checkin for a 3-night stay. [B]

Day 8: Jan 29, 2020:  Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This day is at leisure to enjoy the hotel and Copacabana Beach that is right outside the front door of the hotel. This evening, enjoy a “Welcome to Brazil” Dinner as you meet up with fellow travelers that are joining the South America journey. [B/D]

Day 9: Jan 30, 2020:  Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The morning visit Sugar Loaf Mountain, rising 396 m above the harbor.  Its name is said to come from its resemblance to the traditional shape of a concentrated refined loaf of sugar.  A glass-paneled cable car offers 360-degree views of the surrounding city.  This afternoon, enjoy a city tour of Rio will include the cathedral, Olympic sites and "Christ the Redeemer" statue, 98 feet tall at 2,300 feet above sea  level and watching over the city of Rio.  This is truly an amazing site. Dinner this evening at hotel.  [B/D]

Day 10: Jan 31, 2020:  Rio de Janeiro – Ponta Grossa, Brazil
Early morning departure from the hotel and transfer to the airport for a flight to Curitiba, Brazil.  After arriving into Curitaba, drive to Ponta Grossa.  Enroute visit a grain farm as well as a machine dealership. Transfer to hotel  for an overnight stay. [B/L/D]

Day 11: Feb 01, 2020:  Ponta Grossa - Curitiba, Brazil
Following breakfast at hotel, visit one of the local dairy farms in the area.  Later, visit the Dutch  Pioneer Park  for tour and lunch.  This afternoon visit another large grain farm operation before checking into hotel for a 2-night stay. Dinner will be on your own this evening.  [B/L]

Day 11: Feb 02, 2020:  Curitiba, Brazil
Today, visit a local and state run market, then proceed to Paranagua’s Port, the most important port in  Brazil, especially for the shipment of soy beans and poultry.  Visit the harbour via a boat cruise then return to Curitiba for the night.

Day 12: Feb 03, 2020:  Curitaba-Foz do Iguacu, Brazil
Breakfast at hotel and a morning visit to the Botanical Gardens.  Transfer to the airport for a flight to Foz do Iquacu, on the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls.  Visit the “Pasco Das Aves” Bird Park then check into a resort hotel for a 4-night stay.   [B/D]

Day 14 - Feb 04, 2020:  Iguazu Falls, Brazil
Visit the Brazilian side of the falls followed by a boat ride under the falls. (Warning, you will get wet). Return to hotel with the balance of the day at leisure.  You can go for dinner when you choose to eat.   [B/L/D]

Day 15 - Feb 05, 2020:  Iguazu Falls, Brazil
This day is spent at the “Coopavel Farm Show” one of the largest farm shows in South America. Return back to hotel and once more choose when you want to go for dinner.  [B/D]

Day 16 - Feb 06,  2020:  Iguazu Falls, Brazil
Following breakfast at hotel, travel into the countryside to view the Itaipu Dam, the second largest hydro electric dam in the world. Visit a local farm in the region before returning back to hotel.  This afternoon take a helicopter ride over the falls for a birds-eye view of this magnificent natural wonder.  This evening enjoy a dinner and Cultural show as a Farewell to Brazil. Day 17 - Feb 07, 2020:  Iguazu Falls, Brazil - Buenos Aires,  Argentina
This morning cross the border between Brazil and Argentina.  If time permits, view the “Falls” from the Argentina side before transferring to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina and a 2-night stay.  This  evening you are entertained at a Tango Show and Dinner. NOTE:  This will be a late evening. [B/D]

Day 18 - Feb 08, 2020:  Buenos Aires, Argentina
This morning enjoy a city tour including the colorful Boca area of the city.  Following lunch, return to hotel for a leisurely afternoon. [B/L]

Day 19 - Feb 09, 2020:  Buenos Aires - Rosario,  Argentina
Your drive today takes you to Rosario.  As you drive through the country side, a stop will be made at an Angus Cattle farm.  Upon arrival into Rosario, check into hotel for a 2-night stay. Rosario is a large grain port city on the Parana River [B/L/D]

Day 20 - Feb 10, 2020:  Rosario, Argentina
Following breakfast at hotel visit two local farms in the region with lunch at a local restaurant.  Return to hotel for the night.   [B/L/D]

Day 21 - Feb 11, 2020:  Rosario - Bariloche, Argentina
Following a leisurely breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight into Bariloche, Argentina.  Bariloche, is in the heart of the Patagonia region that consists of over 100,000 hectares of land dedicated to cattle, sheep and forestry. [B/D]

Day 22 - Feb 12, 2020:  Bariloche, Argentina
A visit to one of the local ranches with large herds of sheep and cattle.  There are valleys with water springs or creeks which allow for natural grasslands and pastures. Ranches in the area are large in size due to their low carrying capacity.  Return to Bariloche for an afternoon visit to a chocolate shop.    [B/L/D]

Day 23 - Feb 13, 2020:  Bariloche, Argentina - Puerto Varas, Chile
A FULL DAY EXCURSION!
The inspiring beauty of the southern Andes unfolds today as you travel from Argentina to Chile via roads and a series of lake cruise crossings.  Arrive into Puerto Varas, Chile for a 3-night stay. [B/L/D]

Day 24 - Feb 14, 2020:  Puerto Varas, Chile
Travel north to the region, known as the pastoral area of the country and visit with a local farmer. Arrive at the farm in time to see your lunch being placed on the spit for your BBQ.  You will be greeted with a tasty Pisco Sour (or maybe 2).  As your lunch is cooking, tour around this small dairy farm.  After touring, enjoy homemade and freshly baked empanadas and BBQ.  Return to hotel.    [B/L]

Day 25 - Feb 15, 2020:  Puerto Varas, Chile
A morning visit to the seaport in Puerto Varas. Following lunch, drive into the countryside to be entertained at a Chilean horse show and rodeo before returning to the hotel for the night. [B/D]

Day 26 - Feb 16, 2020:  Puerto Varas - Santiago - Valparaiso/Vina Del Mar, Chile
This morning fly from Puerto Varas to Santiago. Enjoy a winery tour, tasting and lunch en route to the Pacific coastal city of Valparaiso/Vina Del Mar for a two night stay. [B/L]

Day 27 - Feb 17, 2020:  Valparaiso/Vina Del Mar, Chile
Morning tour of Valparaiso/Vina Del Mar including funicular and lunch.  Afternoon at hotel to enjoy the beach and coastal setting.  [B/L]

Day 28 - Feb 18, 2020:  Valparaiso/Vina Del Mar - Santiago, Chile
Travel back to Santiago with city tour and lunch.  Check into hotel and this evening enjoy a Chilean Culture Dinner and Show. [B/L/D]

Day 29 - Feb 19, 2020:  Santiago, Chile
Visit the country's largest fruit and vegetable wholesale markets this morning followed by a visit to the fish market.  The afternoon is at leisure at the hotel.  This evening enjoy a "Farewell Luncheon" at a local restaurant before transferring to an airport hotel with balance of time free until evening flights back to North America.  [B/L]

  • All travelers require a passport that is valid for 6 months after your return to North America.

  • Brazil: Travelers holding a Canadian Passport do not require a tourist visa. Those who do not hold a Canadian Passport do require to purchase a Brazil Visa in advance. (~$120 CAD per person)

  • Argentina: Persons holding a Canadian Passport to not require a Reciprocity Fee.

  • Those who do not hold a Canadian Passport do require a Reciprocity Fee and this must be prepaid by Credit Card before departing Canada, online US$75 per person

  • Chile: All tourists are issued a tourist card—valid for a maximum period of up to 90 days—upon arrival.
    You must retain this document and present it to immigration officers prior to departure from the country
