Day 01:  Fri: Feb 14, 2020:  Depart North America    [IFM]
Depart North America on an overnight flight into Europe.

Day 02: Sat: Feb 15, 2020:   Europe ~ Nairobi, Kenya     [IFM]
Depart the European city and fly to Nairobi, Kenya, the capital of the country.
You are met with a special welcome then transferred to the Sarova Stanley Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 03:  Sun: Feb 16, 2020: Nairobi ~ Samburu, Elephant Bedroom Camp, Kenya   [B/L/D]
Today, drive north from Nairobi, crossing over the equator and stopping for lunch as well as a farm visit on the way to the Elephant Bedroom Camp for a two night stay.  This small and exclusive safari camp is located on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.  Here guests are truly at one with nature as the camp is regularly visited by elephant and game which shelter under the trees.  Each tented bedroom is nicely furnished in a rustic African style while offering every comfort expected of a luxury safari camp.  All tents have electricity and en suite facilities with hot and cold running water.  The food and service at Elephant Bedroom Camp are of a high standard.  A generous breakfast and lunch (three courses) are served outside when possible.  The four course evening meal is either taken by candle-light in the open-front dining area or al fresco.  Enjoy your first game drive as you enter the Samburu Game Reserve and make your way to the Elephant Bedroom Camp.

Day 04:  Mon: Feb 17, 2020:  Samburu Game Reserve/Elephant Bedroom Camp     [B/L/D]
This is a full day at the Samburu Game Reserve. There will be both a morning and an  afternoon game drive, in search of game found only north of the equator, such as:  long necked Gerenuk, Grevy Zebra, Beisa Oryx and the blue shanked Somali Ostrich and of course the Big Five:  Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Cape Buffalo and Leopard.  The Ewaso Nyiro River is an oasis-like setting that attracts a myriad of birds and wildlife.  There is an optional opportunity to visit a local village after breakfast where guests can learn more about Samburu culture.  The evening game drive will take in a scenic point to observe the sun setting over the African plains.  *There is an option to visit the Samburu Manyatta to see how the tribe lives in these harsh surroundings.

Day 05:  Tue: Feb 18, 2020:  Elephant Bedroom Camp~Lake Naivasha, Kenya         [B/L/D]
After breakfast, depart the Elephant Bedroom Camp and drive past Thompson Falls on the way to Lake Naivasha.  Check into the Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge for a 2-night stay. Balance of day to enjoy the lodge. Watch for the animals that come to eat on the lawns in the evenings. 

Day 06:  Wed: Feb 19, 2020:  Lake Naivasha, Kenya                                    [B/L/D]
This morning, visit one of the many greenhouses in the region and a major supplier of  roses to the world.  There are over 5,000 acres of greenhouses dotting the countryside near the equator in Kenya.  Return to Lake Naivasha Simba lodge for lunch.  A true highlight this afternoon is the boat ride on the lake, cruising amidst the many hippos that populate the lake.  This evening is topped off with an authentic “Bush Dinner”.

Day 07: Thu: Feb 20, 2020: Lake Naivasha ~ Masai Mara, Kenya                               [B/L/D]
Departing Lake Naivasha after breakfast, you travel through the Great Rift Valley as you make your way onto the Masai Mara and a 2-night stay at the Tipilikwani Tented Camp.  After lunch at the lodge, go on a game drive that will take you onto an area of Kenya that can have a super abundance of wildlife.   Some animals you can see include the Maasi   giraffes and the resident wildebeests.   Dinner and overnight at the lodge.  

Day 08: Fri: Feb 21, 2020: Masai Mara Tipilikwani Lodge, Kenya      [B/L/D]
AMAKI! (
Awake) Early wakeup with a cup of Africa coffee or tea then head out for an optional Hot Air Balloon Safari flight launch site for an unforgettable experience, gliding over the Masai Mara plains.  Upon landing out on these plains, a scrumptious bush    breakfast has been set up for you to enjoy followed by an extended game drive on the   Masai Mara, always be on the lookout for the “Big Five”.  Back at camp in time for lunch and the rest of the afternoon to relax and enjoy the camp at leisure.
Those not doing the Balloon Safari will depart lodge after breakfast and join the others on an extended game drive on the Masai Mara.  Back at camp in time for lunch and the rest of the afternoon to relax and enjoy the camp at leisure.

Day 09: Fri: Feb 22, 2020: Masai Mara - Nairobi, Kenya         [B/L]
Breakfast at the camp then say farewell to the staff at Tipilikwani camp and transfer to the airstrip for a flight from the Masai Mara into the city of Nairobi.  Friendly staff will meet you and take you to the Carnivore restaurant for lunch.  Overnight in Nairobi.

Day 10:  Feb 23, 2020:  Nairobi, Kenya - Luxor, Egypt     [B/D]
Early morning flight from Nairobi via Cairo into the city of Luxor, Egypt. Upon arrival into Cairo, tourist visa arrangements and assistance for your ongoing transfer to your flight to Luxor have been taken care of. Once in Luxor, transfer to your hotel for a 2-night stay.  Enjoy a buffet dinner this evening.

Day 11:  Feb 24, 2020:  Luxor     [B/L/D]
Free morning in Luxor including lunch. After lunch, tour Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes in Bible times.  This afternoon visit Luxor Temple a large ancient temple on the east bank of the Nile and was constructed in 1400 BC.  Later this afternoon watch the sunset over the Nile from the hotel terrace.

Day 12:  Feb 25, 2020:  Luxor   [B/L/D]
This morning, enjoy an excursion to the Karnak Temple. This amazing temple was like the Vatican of the Pharaonic Era. Here everything is large with monumental gates, enormous halls with pillars and beautiful wall carvings.  Check into your very luxurious Nile River Cruise Ship in time for lunch and to acquaint yourselves with your home for the next 4 nights.  This evening you return to the Karnak Temple for the Sound and Light Show.

Day 13:  Feb 26, 2020:  Luxor – Nile River Cruise   [B/L/D]
Depart for the western bank of the Nile River to visit the Colossus of Memnon. Queen Hatshepsut Temple and the Valley of Kings.   You will visit three tombs, including the Tomb of Tutankhamen. (King Tut).  Return across the river to the east back and start cruising on the Nile river towards the Esna locks.  Enjoy the panoramic view from the sundeck as not much has changed along the Nile since the time of the pharaohs.  The farmers and family are working hard in the fields. The green color stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding dry brown desert.  Enjoy afternoon tea onboard. The ship has to wait for its turn in the lock of Esna and will pass through during the late afternoon and continue to Edfu.

Day 14:  Feb 27, 2020:  Cruising Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan     [B/L/D]
Visit the Edfu Temple, built in 200 BC and perfectly preserved.  Continue to sail to Kom Ombo where there is a short walk from the ship to visit this double temple before continuing towards Aswan in the afternoon. Once more enjoy afternoon tea as you view life along the river.

Day 15:  Feb 28, 2020:  Aswan     [B/L/D]
Your day starts with a sailing trip around the archipelago of Aswan in a felucca, a small classic sailing boat.  Walk around the Botanical Garden and take a walk among the 100 year old trees of all kinds.  After lunch you will visit the Philae Temple situated on a small island between the old Aswan Dam and the High Dam as well as the unfinished obelisk in the granite quarry. You are back onboard in the late afternoon for your last night onboard.

Day 16:  Feb 29, 2020:  Aswan – Lake Nasser Cruise     [B/L/D]
You check out of your Nile River cruise ship after breakfast and fly to Abu Simble on Lake Nasser and see the beautiful sight of the famous Abu Simbel Temples.  Transfer to your waiting cruise ship and settle in.  After lunch, you visit these two magnificent temples, built by Ramses II.  There is time to relax back on board and have afternoon tea. This evening go back ashore to enjoy the fantastic Sound & Light show at the temples.  Back onboard for a late Welcome Dinner. 

Day 17:  Mar 01, 2020:  Abu Simbel – Kasr Ibrim – Amada - Wadi El Seboua     [B/L/D]
You set sail in the early morning with the magnificent views of the Abu Simble Temples fading in the distance.  You can relax on board as you sail past Kasr Ibrim, a citadel that you view from the sundeck of the ship.  After lunch on board you visit the Temples of Amada and Derr.  Sail to Wadi El Seboua to overnight tied up along the shore.   Enjoy cocktails this evening then let the staff entertain you with a Nubian Show.

Day 18:  Mar 02, 2020:  Wadi El Seboua - Wadi El Seboua – Aswan   [B/L/D]
Breakfast followed by a morning visit to the Wadi El Seboua Temple, called the “Lion temple”  because of all the sphinxes that are scattered around.  This afternoon you cross over the Tropic of Cancer.  The imaginary line that is halfway between the equator and the south Pole. Sail into Aswan in the harbour at Aswan and overnight on board.

Day 19:  Mar 03, 2020:  Abu Simbel – Cairo   [B/L/D]
Visit the Temples of Dakka and Meharakka early in the morning if time permits then disembark the cruise ship and transfer to the airport in Aswan to fly to Cairo then transfer to the hotel in the Pyramids area in Giza for 2-night stay.  This afternoon is free to relax around the pools at the hotel.

Day 20:  Mar 04, 2020:  Giza     [B/L/D]
Today you will visit the Step Pyramid, the Great Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Papyrus Institute before returning to the hotel later in the afternoon.

Day 21:  Mar 05, 2020:  Cairo – End of Kenya/Egypt Tour [B/L/D]
Check out of your Giza hotel and visit to the Egyptian Museum and the galleries with the treasures of Tutankhamon.  After lunch, transfer to an airport hotel for use of a day room until transferring to the airport later this evening and check in for your flight back to North America. 
* Those wishing to visit Jordan will use the hotel for an overnight stay and fly out the following morning to Jordan.
