Day 01:  August 04, 2019:  Arrive Cape Town, South Africa
Arrive Cape Town.  Transfer to Hotel for an overnight stay.  Cape Town is South Africa’s oldest and arguably most attractive city. Known affectionately as the ‘Mother City’, it was here that Jan van Riebeeck, a Dutchman, developed a victualling station in 1652.

Day 02:  August 05, 2019:  Stellenbosch     [B/D]
Visit Table Mountain (weather permitting) to enjoy the spectacular views over Table Bay. Table Mountain (1,134m) is one of the best-known mountains in the southern hemisphere. Continue to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa founded in 1679 and check in to our hotel.  Stellenbosch is renowned for its Cape Dutch buildings, university and wine. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 03:  August 06, 2019:  Stellenbosch - Caledon - Stellenbosch   [B/D]
After breakfast, travel to the town of Caledon. You visit a dairy farm carrying 1,220 Jersey cows and then lunch at leisure in Greyton. This afternoon you visit the Boontjieskraal Estate, a mixed farming concern that has been in the same family for generations. You view the sheep flocks and discuss aspects of sheep raising with the staff. They farm approximately 12,000 sheep, including a Merino-cross (Dohne Merino). This farm is one of the biggest in the Western Cape. Late afternoon return to Stellenbosch. Tonight enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 04:  August 07, 2019:  Cape Town   [B/D]
You explore the beautiful town of Stellenbosch this morning followed by a visit to the Van Ryn Brandy Distillery.  It’s rich history dates back to 1845, when Dutch immigrant Jan van Ryn arrived at the Cape.  Here view the distillation process and see a cooper making maturation barrels from French Oak in the traditional manner.  This afternoon you will visit the Heart of Cape Town Museum at the Groote Schuur Hospital.   Dr Chris Barnard performed the world’s first heart    transplant in Cape Town’s Groote Schuur hospital on 3 December 1967.   A memorable visit as you tour the actual operating theatres and see the recreation of that momentous occasion.

Day 05:  August 08, 2019:  Cape Town    [B/D]
This morning you travel to Hout Bay, a beautiful fishermen’s town. You experience the splendour of the Cape Peninsula as you travel to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via Chapman’s Peak Drive. Nearly 8,000 hectares of indigenous fynbos (fine bush) cover the reserve and about 1,200 plant species have been recorded in the area.  As you drive through the fynbos you may see ostrich or eland and baboons. From here, depart for Simon’s Town where you visit the penguin colony   before travelling to the eastern slopes of Table Mountain where you visit the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, which is the premier centre for the study and propagation of South Africa’s indigenous flora.  It covers 500 hectares filled with over 6,000 species of plants.

Day 06:  August 09, 2019:  Pretoria   [B/D]
Time to explore the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, which is one of the most popular attractions in South Africa, the main features include the glittering Victoria Wharf shopping mall, large covered craft markets, a huge food emporium, a working brewery and a state-of-the-art Two Oceans   Aquarium.  City tour of Cape Town including the Company Gardens established by Jan van Riebeeck to provision ships of the Dutch East India Company, Bo Kaap (the Malay quarter) and Signal Hill before transferring to Cape Town International Airport to connect with your flight to Johannesburg.  On arrival you travel to Pretoria and check in to your hotel.

Day 07:  August 10, 2019:  Hannah Game Lodge     [B/L/D]
You travel across the highveld today and pass by the city of Middleburg where the British established a concentration camp during the Boer War.  You visit the farm of Gerrit Roos ‘Leeubank’.  Gerrit farms German merino sheep and the Pinzgauer cattle breed as well as growing maize and soybean.  Learn about the challenges facing farmers in this environment and enjoy a lunch of traditional food.  From here you travel to a private game reserve of more than 8,000 hectares of Malaria-free, unspoiled African bushveld.  Shortly after arrival you depart on an evening game drive.   You see various antelope species and learn about the sable project.   The black sable is one of the rarest antelopes in South Africa.   After your special ‘Boma’ dinner, a wildlife expert will talk to you about game farming in South Africa.

Day 08: August 11, 2019:  Hazyview    [B/D]
This morning you explore the amazing natural splendour of the Panorama route. You drive to view spectacular wonders like the Three Rondavels at the Blyde River Canyon, a gigantic gorge and one of the natural wonders of Africa. This canyon is the largest green canyon in South Africa. Next you stop at Bourkes Luck Potholes before travelling to Graskop where you have lunch at leisure. Today a black guide accompanies you and he will show you a black village, which is fascinating experience learning about their culture and way of life. You drop down through the spectacular Drakensberg escarpment to the Lowveld and Hazyview where you overnight.

Day 09:  August 12, 2019:   Hazyview – Kruger National Park – Kapama Game Reserve   [B/L/D]
Today is safari day! You depart early by coach from Hazyview. You enter the Kruger National Park and spend the morning in this world famous National Park, which covers an area of 21,497 square kilometres, in search of the wildlife of Africa. You will see various game, bird and plant species as you experience the wonders of the African bush. You travel through the Park and then on to another private game reserve. These 13,000 hectares of unspoilt wilderness are home to the ‘Big Five’. You arrive in time for lunch and relax while taking in the beautiful surroundings before coming together for afternoon tea. Then the adventure begins as you go on a game drive to search for the Big Five – the majestic lion, the shy leopard, the gentle elephant, the unpredictable rhino and the cantankerous buffalo – in open 4 x 4 jeeps manned by experienced rangers and trackers. Tonight enjoy dinner at the lodge.

Day 10:  August 13, 2019:   Kapama Game Reserve   [B/L/D]
Today you can experience all the splendour of the African bush.   Depart early on a game drive to see the wakening of the bush. More priceless memories of African wildlife as you follow the trails of various animals through the bushveld. After breakfast the rest of the day is yours to relax around the pool, go for a guided walk or just enjoy the sights and sounds of Africa.  An evening game drive with a stop to enjoy a sundowner as night descends before returning to the lodge.  This evening enjoy dinner in true African style under the night sky. Feast on the finest cuisine in the Boma (wooden enclosure) whilst the night sounds of the dark mysterious bush surround you.

Day 11:  August 14, 2019:  Kapama Game Reserve – Pretoria   [B/D]
This morning enjoy another game drive followed by a late breakfast. It will be hard to leave but you board your coach for the drive back to Pretoria.  Lunch on the way.

Day 12:  August 15, 2019:  Pretoria – Bela Bela/Thabazimbi – Game Farm   [B/D]
This morning you have a city tour of Pretoria. You then travel to the Bela Bela/Thabazimbi area to meet your farmstay hosts on their 1,600 ha game farm.  Enjoy luxurious accommodation and friendlyAfrikaner hospitality. Tour the farm and learn about how game is farmed for hunting and ecotourism in South Africa. This afternoon enjoy a game drive and tonight you have dinner at the lodge.

Day 13:  August 16, 2019: Game Farm – Pretoria    [B/L]
After a relaxing breakfast you travel back towards Pretoria. En route you will visit a Bonsmara farm. The Bonsmara cattle breed was developed in South Africa and is a popular breed, due to its resistant to ticks and drought. Stop for lunch at a game lodge. Continue to Pretoria and check in to your hotel. 

Day 14:  August 17, 2019:   Pretoria – Johannesburg – Livingstone, Zambia
This morning you leave for Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport for your flight to Livingstone, Zambia, or end of South Africa tour this day.

Ask about adding an extension to Botswana and Zambia.
