Join Select Holidays on this tour of India.  You experience Indian Agriculture during our visits to the milk collection stations, on the short ox cart ride to the farm village, spontaneous stops to see the mustard farm harvest, visit the flower seed farm, & rice harvesting on the farms.  As we drive through the country side you will see the farm tractor repair shops, trucks hauling the sugar cane from the farm, and the many cattle & goats roaming freely along the road side.  Enjoy the smiling faces of the colorful Indian people and the smell of the spices at the street vendors.  Visit one of the 7 wonders of the world – The Taj Mahal, majestic forts, and opulent palaces.  Embrace the chaos of the traffic and the sound of the horns honking.  Everyday in India is an adventure which will exceed your expectations.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Sat, Feb 24 2024      [IFM]
Depart North America on an overnight flight to Delhi, India.

Day 2 - Sun, Feb 25, 2024 [IFM]
Upon arrival into Delhi, India, early this evening, clear local Customs.  You are met and transfer to your hotel for a four-night stay.

Day 3 - Mon, Feb 26, 2024 [B/L/D]
Tour ‘Old’ Delhi, including a visit to the Red Fort - built in 1648 and one of the largest mosques in India.  Delhi is a fascinating city with unique shops and amazing people.  “Welcome Dinner” this evening hosted by Select Holidays.

Day 4 - Tue, Feb 27, 2024  Delhi    [B/L/D]     
After breakfast tour of ‘New’ Delhi, with visits that will include India Gate, War Memorial Arch, and driving past both the President's House and the Parliament House. Enjoy a rickshaw ride to visit a spice market.

Day 5 - Wed, Feb 28, 2024  Delhi    [B/L/D]
This morning, a drive into the local countryside and visit the Amul Milk Plant, a state-of-the-art dairy factory that produces milk, curd, ice cream and cheese. Later, visit an organic and herbal farm, for cocktails and dinner. Overnight back in Delhi.

Day 6 - Thu, Feb 29, 2024   Delhi - Ludhiana       [B/L/D]
Visit the largest wholesale fruit and vegetable market in Asia this morning, where trading and auctioning take place early every morning.  Later visit a Rice Mill before driving north to Ludhiana in the Punjabi region.  Upon arrival into Ludhiana, check into hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7 - Fri, Mar 01, 2024     Ludhiana - Delhi     [B/L/D]   
A morning farm visit to a vegetable & seed producer followed by a visit to wheat farm. This region is known for its progressive family farms located on the outskirts of Ludhiana. Transfer to the railway station for an evening train journey (executive class) back to Delhi and an overnight stay. 

Day 8 - Sat, Mar 02, 2024    Delhi / Jhansi / Khajuraho   [B/L/D]
This morning, board the train (executive class) once again for your journey from Delhi to Jhansi. Upon arrival you will travel on to Khajuraho and visit Orcha, whose grandeur has been captured in stone, frozen in time and a rich legacy to the ages.  The palaces and the temples built in the 16th and 17th century and retain much of their pristine perfection. Get spectacular view of soaring temple spires and cenotaphs.  Transfer to hotel for 2 nights in Khajuraho.  

Day 9 - Sun, Mar 03, 2024     Khajuraho   [B/L/D] 
Morning half day city tour of Khajuraho visiting the world famous Khajuraho Temple - built by Chandela Kings between 950 A.D. and 1050 A.D.  Visit a Traditional Farm that still uses bullock carts and enjoy lunch at the farm house.  This evening enjoy entertainment and a Classical Dance Show

Day 10 - Mon, Mar 04, 2024  Khajuraho / Jhansi / Agra   [B/L/D]      
After breakfast, transfer to the Jhansi Railway Station to travel by train (executive class) to Agra.  Check into hotel in Agra for a 2-night stay.  

Day 11 - Tue, Mar 05, 2024   Agra    [B/L/D]        
Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise.  The Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shahjahan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz Mahal.  Return to hotel for breakfast then visit Sikandara, Itmad-Ud-Duala and Agra Fort. Sikandara- is “Emperor Akbar's” mausoleum; Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Duala was built between 1622-28 by Empress Noor Jahan in memory of her father; Agra Fort contains halls of private and public audiences and other palaces. 

Day 12 - Wed, Mar 06, 2024   Ranthambore National Park   [B/L/D]     
Depart for Ranthambore National Park and Tiger Reserve. Enroute to the park, visit Fatehpur Sikri.  Upon arrival into the park check into hotel for a 2-night stay. This afternoon on safari you look for the illusive tiger.

Day 13 - Thu, Mar 07, 2024    Ranthambore National Park   [B/L/D]     
Enjoy a morning and afternoon game run. The park is a congenial habitat for the stately Sambar - the largest of all Asiatic deer, water birds and crocodiles. The park is a wildlife enthusiast and photographer’s dream.  Later on you will visit a Guava Farm.

Day 14 – Fri, Mar 08, 2024    Jaipur   [B/L/D]    
Once again, another game run before traveling to Jaipur – known as the “Pink City”. Jaipur will be your home  for the next 3 nights.

Day 15 – Sat, Mar 09, 2024   Jaipur     [B/L/D]      
Visit Amber Fort in the morning, the ancient capital of the state. An unforgettable elephant or jeep ride is part of the highlight this day as well.  Later visit a milk collection center where milk is collected from nearby villagers.

Day 16 – Sun, Mar 10, 2024   Jaipur     [B/L/D]      
A morning tour of Jaipur visiting the city palace and observatory.  Drive past Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds plus through the rows-pink residential and business area.  Enjoy a “Farewell Dinner” hosted by Select Holidays, at a 30 acre agriculture farm, which is a typical Indian farm with thatched roofs and mud plastered wall.  The farm also has tube wells used for irrigating crops such as wheat, barley, millet and vegetables. 

Day 17 - Mon, Mar 11, 2024   Jaipur - Delhi      [B/L/D]     
All too soon great things must come to an end as you drive from Jaipur back to Delhi.  Upon arrival into Delhi, check into an airport hotel.  Depending on flight departures times from Delhi, your transfers to the airport will coincide with your flight details.

Day 18 - Tue, Mar 12, 2024 End of Tour     [IFM]  
Flight arrival back into North America.
Ask about extending your India Tour to Southern India - more sights and sounds to thrill your senses.
