This small group departure is HOSTED by Select Holidays.  As you journey along the lifeline of Egyptian civilization, experiencing incredible sights that include ancient temples, tombs, and local villages.  Cruise both the fertile Nile River Delta and Lake Nasser.  No visit would be complete without viewing the great pyramids and Sphinx at Giza.  Travel onto the Kingdom of Jordan.  Visit the ancient hidden city of Petra, a journey through a winding passageway between rock walls.  Step back 2000 years in time with visits to Jerash, Mount Nebo, which looks down on Moses' "Promised Land" plus visit the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth.

Day 01: Mar 16, 2024:  Depart North America     [IFM]
Depart North America on an overnight flight to Egypt.

Day 02:  Mar 17, 2024:  Luxor, Egypt  [IFM]
Arrival in Cairo with a connecting flight to the city of Luxor.  Transferred to a hotel situated along the Nile River, for a 2-night stay.

Day 03:  Mar 18, 2024:  Luxor  [B/L/D]
Breakfast at hotel then visit the “Luxor Temple”, a large Ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the Nile River. The temple was constructed around 1400 BC. Later board a 4*ship Nile River boat for a 4-night stay. Lunch onboard and time to get to know the ship before visiting Karnak Temple. In the afternoon visit to the amazing Karnack Temple, the Vatican of the Pharaonic Era. Here everything is large with monumental gates and enormous halls and pillars with beautiful carvings and then continue to the Luxor temple that will be illuminated after sunset. Overnight onboard.

Day 04:  Mar 19, 2024:  Nile River Cruise        [B/L/D]
Depart for the western bank of the Nile River to visit the Colossus of Memnon. Queen Hatshepsut Temple and the Valley of Kings. You will visit three tombs, including the Tomb of Tutankhamen. (King Tut). Around noon start cruising on the Nile River towards the Esna locks. Enjoy the panoramic view from the sundeck as not much has changed along the Nile since the time of the pharaohs. The farmers and family are working hard in the fields. The green color stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding dry brown desert. Enjoy afternoon tea onboard. The ship has to wait for its turn in the lock of Esna and will pass through during the late afternoon and continue to Edfu.

 Day 05: Mar 20, 2024:  Cruising Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan [B/L/D]
Visit the Edfu Temple, built in 200 BC and perfectly preserved.  Continue to sail to Kom Ombo where there is a short walk from the ship to visit this double temple before continuing towards Aswan in the afternoon. Once more enjoy afternoon tea as you view life along the river.

Day 06:  Mar 21, 2024:  Aswan  [B/L/D]
Your day starts with a sailing trip around the archipelago of Aswan in a felucca, a small classic sailing boat.  Walk around the  Botanical Garden and take a walk among the 100 year old trees of all kinds.  After lunch you will visit the Philae Temple situated on a small island between the old Aswan Dam and the High Dam as well as the unfinished obelisk in the granite quarry. You are back onboard in the late afternoon for your last night onboard.

Day 07:  Mar 22, 2024:  Aswan –Lake Nasser Cruise  [B/L/D]
You check out of your Nile River cruise ship after breakfast and fly to Abu Simble on Lake Nasser and see the beautiful sight of the famous Abu Simbel Temples.  Transfer to your waiting cruise ship and settle in.  After lunch, you visit these two magnificent temples, built by Ramses II.  There is time to relax back on board and have afternoon tea. This evening go back ashore to enjoy the fantastic Sound & Light show at the temples.  Back onboard for a late Welcome Dinner.

 Day 08: Mar 23, 2024:  Aswan – Kasr Ibrim – Amada           [B/L/D]
You set sail in the early morning with the magnificent views of the Abu Simble Temples fading in the distance. You can relax on board as you sail past Kasr Ibrim, a citadel that you view from the sundeck of the ship. There will be time for photos from the sundeck. After lunch on board you visit the Temples of     Amada and Derr. Sail to Wadi El Seboua for overnight.

Day 09:  Mar 24, 2024:  Lake Nasser - Aswan   [B/L/D]
Breakfast followed by a morning visit to the Wadi El Seboua Temple, called the “Lion temple”  because of all the sphinxes that are scattered around.  This afternoon you cross over the Tropic of Cancer.  The imaginary line that is halfway between the equator and the south Pole. Sail into Aswan in the harbour at Aswan and overnight on board.

Day 10:   Mar 25, 2024:  Aswan  [B/D]
After breakfast, visit KALABSHA Temples. You will then disembark the cruise ship and visit the High Dam on the way to Aswan. This ‘wonder of the new world’ has changed life in the Nile valley. Transfer to hotel in Aswan. Time to visit a Nubian village in Elephantine Island where you will be shown around and hear all about the Nubian people and culture by the Nubian host.

Day 11:   Mar 26, 2024:  Aswan - Giza  [B/D]
Morning at leisure to relax before you transfer to the airport in Aswan to fly to Cairo then transfer to the hotel in the          Pyramids area in Giza for 2-night stay. This afternoon is free to relax around the pools at the hotel.

Day 12:  Mar 27, 2024:  Giza     [B/L/D]
You begin your day with the most famous sight in Egypt including the Step Pyramid, the Pyramids at the Giza Plateau, one of the “Seven  Wonders of the Ancient World” as well as a visit to the mysterious Sphinx.  This afternoon visit the Institute of Papyrus before returning to the hotel for dinner and the night.

Day 13: Mar 28, 2024:  Giza – Cairo    [B/L/D]
Departing from Giza, you visit the Egyptian Museum, an absolute must on any tour to Egypt.  A guide will take you to the galleries with the gold and treasures of  Tutankhamun, before transferring to an airport hotel for an overnight stay.
(A hotel day room is available to refresh before transferring to the airport later this evening if flying back to North America.) 

Day 14: Mar 29, 2024:  Cairo - Amman        [B/L/D]
A morning transfer to the Cairo Airport for a flight into Amman, Jordan.  You will be met by a local guide and transfer to Amman hotel for an overnight stay.  Amman is the capital of Jordan, and the country's economic, political and cultural centre.

Day 15:  Mar 30, 2024:  Amman - Dead Sea    [B/L/D]
This morning visit Madaba, best known for its Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land.  Visit Mount Nebo overlooking the Promise Land in the time of Moses.  Continue to Earth's lowest elevation on land, the Dead Sea, which is 304 m deep and the deepest hypersaline lake in the world.  Check into  hotel for an overnight stay .

Day 16:  Mar 31, 2024:  Dead Sea – Petra    [B/L/D]
Departing the Dead Sea you make your way to the “Hidden City” of Petra via the Kings Highway.  Petra is a famous archaeological site in Jordan's southwestern desert.  Dating to around 300 B.C., it was the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom.   Check into hotel for a 3-night stay.

Day 17:  Apr 01, 2024:  Petra    [B/L/D]
A full day visit to Petra.  You reach Petra through the awe inspiring "Siq", a winding 1km long fissure between overhanging cliffs that seem to meet more than 300 feet over head.  During the visit, you will see the beautifully carved rock monuments, such as The Treasury, famous from the film with Indiana Jones, the colored tombs, and theater.  Return to hotel in late afternoon.

Day 18:  Apr 02, 2024:  Petra - Wadi Rum - Petra    [B/L/D]
Today you drive to the Wadi Rum, a moon like landscape of ancient valleys and sandstone mountains rising out of the white and pink colored sands. Much of "Lawrence of Arabia" was filmed and is where Lawrence himself was based during the Arab revolt. Your visit is via a jeep safari.  Lunch is at a Bedouin style camp.  Return to Petra for the night.

Day 19:  Apr 03, 2024:  Petra - Amman [B/L/D]
A morning departure from Petra takes you back to the Amman International Airport for your afternoon flight into Europe.  Overnight at an  airport hotel.

Day 20:  Apr 04, 2024:  End of Tour     [IFM]
Morning departure from Europe for flight back to North America and home.
